"The trade proves how the gap between the fans—who pay for it all—and those who write the checks is only getting wider."

^ What's wild to me here is that the fans are the ones writing the actual checks. I wonder how differently management would behave if the team were collectively owned by the fans (and/or by the players themselves)?

Of course I love the trade bring a lifelong laker fan and remembering watching countless games with my father. I don’t buy the conspiracy theory otherwise we would have had CP3 many years ago but the league squashed the trade. Perhaps owners want to take back control of the league and reduce this player empowerment we have been witnessing, Jimmy Butler? Perhaps they really do believe this gives them a better chance now? AD is no slouch here. Perhaps they were concerned about the looming max contract to a player they felt wasn’t totally dedicated like Tim, Kobe or LBJ? Time will tell, but if laluka has a chip on his shoulder and we hope does, we are set for the next decade! TY Nico!,
