Spurs loyalty’s for me was Robinson, Duncan, Ginobli

Great article and of course it comes back to your beloved burnt orange. Pro basketball has been about the players for some time. However I haven’t noticed that in pro football or baseball have you? I totally agree with you especially college basketball. I do believe more long lasting fan loyalty will always be toward college than pro.

My professional sports fandom was always just location-based. With the Oilers there was a connection for the years Earl was there. And with the Cowboys it was also an admiration of Tom Landry. When Jerrah fired Landry the NFL lost me. I’ve in recent years started following Longhorns in the NFL, but I would not say I’m a pro football fan.
